Central Visayas Peaceful: PRO 7 Chief Alarcio

Camp Sergio Osmena Sr., Cebu City--PRO 7 Director Silverio Alarcio says the conduct of the May 14 elections is generally peaceful in Cebu and Central Visayas. This despite the abduction of four political supporters in Carmen, Cebu and the arrest of armed men in Daanbantayan and Bantayan Island. Alarcio has alerted his men to continue their vigilance when precincts close for the counting.

Sitoy To Sue Comelec's Castillano

Cordova, Cebu--Kampi Mayoral candidate Adelino Sitoy has threatened to charge Cebu Provincial Election Supervisor Lionel Marco Castillano for forcing open his van despite the absence of a search warrant. Sitoy told DYAB Cebu that he will ask the Supreme Court to disbar Castillano after the elections.

Castillano for his part appealed to Sitoy to reconsider, saying he was just doing his job.

Lito O Concerned Over Killings

Jagobiao, Mandaue City--Former Cebu Gov. Lito Osmena has deplored the violent incidents in Cebu during the campaign period, one of which resulted to the killing of a mayoral candidate in Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island. In an interview over DYAB Abante Bisaya, Osmena says the bloody incidents would discourage potential tourists and investors to come to Cebu.

Mary Ann delos Santos Casts Her Vote

Lahug, Cebu City--Cebu City Mayoral Candidate Mary Ann delos Santos casts her vote in Precinct 504-A in Lahug Elem. School. Delos Santos says here opponent, reelectionist Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena, was dreaming when he said that he will win by at least 100,000 votes.

Tourism Secretary Ace Durano Linked to Abduction

Danao City--Tourism Secretary Ace Durano, in an interview with ABS-CBN Cebu's Randy Jainar has denied involvement in the abduction of the supporters of their political rival in Carmen, Cebu. Similar denial was issued by Ace's father, Danao City Mayor Ramonito Durano III, who is running for reelection against his brother, former Danao City mayor Jesus "Don" Durano.

Asingan, Pangasinan--Former president Fidel Ramos cast his vote in Asingan town in Pangasinan province with his sister, former senator Leticia Ramos-Shahani.

Madridejos Mayor's Guards Nabbed

Madridejos, Bantayan Island--The military arrested on Sunday night three supporters of Madridejos Mayor Letty Mancio in a Cebu municipality after they were found carrying firearms.

Mayor Norma Patalinjug Casts Her Vote

Lapulapu City Central School--DYAB Radyo Patrol Therese Amodia reported that Acting Lapulapu City Mayor Norma Patalinjug casts her vote in Lapulapu City Central School. Patalinjug accuses her rival, suspended mayor Arturo Radaza, of vote-buying in Olando Island.

Durano vs. Durano

Danao City--Former Danao City Mayor Jesus "Don" Durano accuses his brother, Danao City Mayor Ramonito Durano III, of abducting four of his supporters in Luyang, Carmen last night. Don Durano rescued the four victims in Danao City at 1 a.m. today.

Gloria Casts Her Vote

Lubao, Pampanga--President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, dressed in a red pant suit, arrived at 8 a.m. Monday and voted at Precinct 1 Barangay San Nicolas First in Lubao, Pampanga as voter #83.

Dapitan Grenade on Poll Eve

Dapitan City--Two unidentified men on board a motorcycle lobbed a grenade outside a polling precinct in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte province on Sunday evening, the regional police chief said.

Col. Vic Loot's Driver Nabbed

Daanbantayan--The driver of former CPPO Chief Vicente Loot, Ryan Chiong, was detained in Daanbatayan Police Station after a .45 caliber pistol was allegedly found in his possession.

Morong, Bataan--A power outage hit Morong town in Bataan province before dawn Monday, Election Day, after a transformer was shot at, the provincial police commander said.

Ballot Box Snatching in Mandaue?

Opao, Mandaue City--Former Mandaue City mayor Teddy Ouano alleged in an interview with DYAB Radyo Patrol Dave Tumulak that the ballot box of Precinct 0439-A in Labogon, Mandaue City was snatched by armed men at 5 a.m. today. But this was denied by Comelec officials. Mandaue City Election Officer Ferdinand Gujilde did not receive any complaint from the board of election inspectors (BEIs) in Labogon.

Zaspa Son Released

STA. FE, BANTAYAN ISLAND--DYAB Radyo Patrol Najib Cubio reported that Dindo Zaspa, 32, son of Sta. Fe mayoral candidate Domingo Zaspa was released by Sta. Fe policemen after one of his companions claimed ownership of the .45 caliber pistol found by policemen inside their vehicle.
